Coming Out Party

My last blog I mentioned Cedric and Duncan- our misnamed couple- were nesting. This morning Tiki made his entrance to the world- not too gracefully - by tumbling out of the nest box. He was able to make his way to the top of the cage and we got some photos of him on top of the box with his sibling- Kiwi still inside. Mango still remains skeptical about the whole incident.

Love In A Little Package

Meet Mango, the Sun Conure. He came to live with us last Sunday and it was love at first sight! He is very social and would happily spend the whole day attached to me!
Our other two conures, Cedric and Duncan (who should be renamed) laid eggs and have raised two baby conures. Cedric is a Blue Crown and Duncan a Nanday so I had no idea such an alliance was possible but- live and learn! They have been excellent parents even though this odd pair has a huge age difference with Cedric being in his twenties and Duncan a youngster about three. Both take turns feeding the babies and Cedric stands guard outside their box to defend them. I'll post photos of the babies when they are out and about.

This and That Continued

Summer is almost over. It's just lovely weather now, not a speck of humidity and lovely fresh mornings.



This weekend Sam stopped by with the kids. I have to say, he's an amazing father. I don't know of another man who would take a 4 year old, a six year old and a 7 week old voluntarily - and still be able to smile!


I think this little one knows something we don't!

Sometimes it's just hard to be little. My granddaughter was really upset (as you can see) that she couldn't stand on her head.

Fortunately, she's got a lot of spunk and gave it a go!

I think she's almost got it though--maybe next year!
